About us

Every project poses a unique challenge. Unique challenges require unique solutions.
With passion and attention to detail we look beyond the conventional to create clever and unique design proposals. Design is personal.

At Welling Architects we consider it our task to be conscious about our designs and materialisation of our designs. We consider sustainable architecture to be conscious architecture.

We believe projects should be designed based on the unique opportunities posed by client and programme, by the specific location and its immediate natural and cultural environment, as well as by the current zeitgeist.

We look at building assignments from a local perspective. We design buildings in accordance to their local climate conditions, we strive to embed local customs and culture in the character of a building and we aim to make use of regenerative and locally sourced materials. This includes new (renewable) locally sourced materials but especially also the reuse of existing materials according to principles of the circular economy. By doing so, not only buildings will be created indigenous to its particular locality, it will also bear marks of our built history through the inclusion of reused materials and refurbished buildings.

A broad knowledge and interest allows us to be inspired by other fields. We don’t automatically revert to the conventional, but we also explore unconventional ways to shine new light onto a building assignment. This results in creative unique solutions that incorporate design, innovation and sustainability.
